Dear Leader, Volunteer, or Friend of Public Benefit Flying,

Each year the Air Care Alliance holds its national AIR CARE conference to bring together leaders, staff members, and supporters of public benefit flying. Attendees enjoy sharing knowledge and building relationships with industry professionals and peers from across the country.

ACA is pleased to invite you to the 2008 AIR CARE conference, which will be held April 25 and 26 in Atlanta, Georgia at the InterContinental Buckhead Hotel in ‘uptown Atlanta.’ 

Many thanks to our gracious host organization, Angel Flight of Georgia, for bringing us Air Care 2008 with warm southern hospitality.

Following is the hotel and event registration information for the Air Care Alliance 19th annual public benefit flying national conference.

AIR CARE 2008 - REGISTER NOW!

When: Friday and Saturday, April 25th and 26th, 2008

Where: InterContinental Buckhead Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia

What: Air Care 2008 Public Benefit Flying Conference, including:

              Friday  ˝ day 9 AM - 1 PM Aviation facility tours

              Friday  ˝ day 2 PM - 4 PM Seminar sessions

Friday evening 6 PM -10 PM Welcome reception generously sponsored by Magnolia Plastics, Inc. in The Venetian Ballroom at The InterContinental Hotel with heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages.

  Saturday all day seminars and workshops see agenda

  Saturday evening 6 PM – Midnight. Dinner, karaoke, dancing and silent auction at The Buckhead Club with a breathtaking view of the Atlanta skyline.  Includes an entertaining dinner presentation on The Greenland Expedition by Pat Epps and Richard Taylor sponsored by the Air Care Alliance and Angel Flight of Georgia.

Who:  All leaders and supporters of public benefit flying are welcome, including staff members, pilots and non-flying volunteers.

Why:  To benefit from the goodwill and mutual support gained from working together and learning from one another and to have fun doing it!  And, to learn from industry leaders on topics that impact non-profits in general and public benefit flying organizations specifically.

How:  All conference and hotel registration information is on the following pages and the attached PDF form.  It is a simple two-step process, just call InterContinental Buckhead Hotel in Atlanta to reserve your room, then complete and return the conference registration form with payment.

 Also: In order to facilitate more meaningful and productive sessions, we are requesting everyone to send ahead or bring the following information. We welcome yours, even if no one from your organization will be attending the conference.

·                 Mission acceptance guidelines &/or linking mission protocols.

·                 Strategic ideas for the ACA Board of Directors to consider.

·                 Bring something to share, either a success story or any other thing you would like to ‘show & tell’ during the Saturday AM introduction session. If you wish to hand-out items to conference attendees during your session, please bring 60 copies for distribution.

·                 A silent auction or raffle item that would be of interest and value to people from across the country to raise funds for the Air Care Alliance at the Saturday night reception.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Some accomplishments of ACA and our past conferences:

· Learned how each group serves those in need and how we can work together to help more

· Joined with the National Aeronautic Association to create the first ever National Public Benefit Flying Awards for volunteer pilot groups and volunteers

· Developed the FAA and ICAO international call sign for all public benefit flying groups

· Worked with the AOPA Air Safety Foundation for a guidebook and video improving safety of our pilots' flight operations

· Initiated appropriate treatment of our activities by FAA and other regulatory agencies

· Helped FAA establish the current policy affirming volunteer pilot operations and permitting pilots to take tax deductions for their expenses

· Developed goals for improved understanding of volunteer pilot operations by the public

· Clarified liability and insurance issues

· Shared information on how to best conduct media and public information campaigns

· Encouraged all groups to develop emergency preparedness programs

· Testified regarding new FAA Air Tour Rules and successfully argued for maintenance of volunteer pilot operations as not subject to new restrictive rules governing charter or charitable event flights. See our News Page for details.
