1) Air Care 2005 Conference Date Set

2) Volunteer Liability Relief Bill Update

3) 2004 Awards Photos Online

Dear Volunteer, Supporter, and Friend of Public Benefit Flying,

Here are some brief news items. You can also view this information online at http://www.aircareall.org/

1) AIR CARE 2005 - SAVE THE DATE!   April 29-30   Asheville North Carolina

Each year the Air Care Alliance holds its AIR CARE national conference to bring leaders in public benefit flying together to enjoy sharing information and learning about their groups' recent work. This year the conference will be held near Asheville, North Carolina at the beautiful and historic Lake Logan Center. Our host volunteer pilot organization this year will be SouthWings, http://www.southwings.org

Visit the Lake Logan Center website at http://www.lakelogan.org to see the incredible venue for our meetings. The scenic drive to the Center is alone worth the trip to the area!

As usual and as announced last year the conference will be held the last weekend in April, chosen so all volunteer pilot groups can save the date so as to not conflict with their own events.

We will have a full schedule of speakers, seminars, and social events, starting with Friday's reception and dinner, and ending with an informal dinner on Saturday night.

Please mark your calendar now and pass this note along to others interested in the world of public benefit flying! More information with details will follow soon.

Note: you might enjoy viewing the photos and information regarding prior conferences available at

2) LIABILITY LEGISLATION UPDATE:

Previously we reported that the Volunteer Pilot Organization Protection Act, introduced by former Rep. Schrock of Virginia, went before the full House on September 14 and passed by 385 to 12 - a wonderful vote of confidence.

Unfortunately the matching Senate Bill SB 955, sponsored by Senator George Allen of Virginia, was stalled in the Senate, apparently because of the distractions of the election season and higher priority end of session legislation.

We expect the legislation to be reintroduced in both Houses early in the 2005 session and we will provide updates via email announcements and on our legislative news page http://www.aircareall.org/legislation.htm - stay tuned!

3) PUBLIC BENEFIT FLYING AWARDS PHOTOS NOW ONLINE

Photographs and information about the 2004 NAA Public Benefit Flying Awards has been posted on the ACA website. On Tuesday September 7th The National Aeronautic Association held its Public Benefit Flying Awards event, "Above and Beyond," in the U.S. Capitol Building and honored the recipients. Please learn about the winners and view and enjoy the photos, located at http://www.aircareall.org/awards-program.htm
